Research Statement

Professor Debasish Ghose works mainly in the area of guidance and control of autonomous vehicles, wih special focus on aerospace and underwater vehicles. Guidance theory, vision based guidance, sliding mode control based guidance, collision avoidance algorithms, path planning, trajectory optimization, and multi-agent systems with application to control of UAVs and robot swarms for search and surveillance operations and contaminant monitoring problems, are some of his major current research areas. In the past he has contributed to the area of large scale system analysis related to warfare modelling, game theoretical strategies, and distributed computations. He has also worked in the area of computational intelligence applied to mobile sensor swarms.
